FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

You can easily shop for the items you like and most times those items will be ready for pickup at your next farmers market, unless noted otherwise. Some items have special delivery dates, please see delivery dates for special order items. We currently only accept cards for online orders. Its the easiest way to get fresh, local produce. Most items are available at the time of order, and some items are pre-order only. Please read the ordering info on each product page. Orders for pickup at the next farmers market must be made 24 hours prior to pickup. Items ordered after this time will be available at the next market or pickup date at that location.

To purchase a ValleyBox CSA Subscription, fill out the form on the product page and checkout. For Pay in Full subscriptions, your ValleyBox registration is then complete for the 2026 season.  We wil send out more info as the first pickup approaches. For payment plans, we will send an invoice and payment authorization form for remaining payments. We will also send you a membership card and a list of pickup times and locations. Pickup times are between Wednesday and Saturday each week from July through October. Pickup times and locations may change with little notice depending on weather and logistical challenges. If you have any questions about ValleyBox, send us a message and we will be happy to answer them for you.

If you would prefer to pay by check, cash, or Venmo, download an application that you can print and return with payment. Our mailing address and Venmo tag are at the bottom of the application. Save an extra $10 when paying with cash, check, or Venmo. Once signup and payment are complete, we will send you all of your membership information. All payment and customer information for automatic payments (if required) will be stored securely through Block, Inc and Square Point-of-Sale. Please DO NOT send cash through the postal system. We are not responsible for cash lost in the mail.

These are products we regularly stock in our cooler like fruit or veggies as well as items that we grow and process. These items are ready within 24-48 hours of ordering. Please order at least 24 hours before your next farmers market so we can make sure we have your items ready for you. Items ordered after this will be available at the next pickup time at that market or pickup location.

Once your order is ready, most times you can pick your items up at the farmers markets or our roadside stands. Other times we will meet you at a time and place that's convenient. Please see special ordering info for holiday items and certain fruit orders.

Items requiring pre-order will be available for pickup the following week after ordering, but sometimes sooner. We will notify you when your order is ready to pick up. Note that some out of area items are not available for pickup at the local markets and pickup times will need to be arranged.

Substitutions: If a variety or crop is unavailable from us or our suppliers, we may substitute a similar variety. For example, if honeycrisp apples are unavailable, we may substitute Evercrisp or Cameo. If Bartlett pears are unavailable, we may substitute Bosc pears or D'anjou pears. We will try to substitute with varieties that are as close in taste to the product ordered. You will receive store credit in the form of a gift card for any price differences in the event that we have to substitute with a similar product.

Yes. Once you place your order, your items must be picked up at the next available time. Often we will purchase fruit only by what's ordered. For this reason, we are unable to cancel most orders. We also understand life happens. If there are extreme circumstances, please reach out to us with your order number and we may be able to cancel your order or postpone order pickup. ValleyBox Subscriptions are non-refundable. If you no longer wish to continue with your subscription, you may transfer it to a family member or friend. All transfers are final. See ValleyBox T&C for more info.

At this time, our items are limited to local pickup and delivery only. We look forward to being able to ship some items to Wyoming addresses in the near future. The WFFA currently does not allow us to ship homemade potentially hazardous food items across state lines.

Yes! If you can't make it, just send us a message prior to your pickup time and let us know who will be picking your order up.

The Wyoming Food Freedom Act was created by the state legislature in 2015, and allows a wide range of homemade food products to be sold in Wyoming. It opened the door for huge growth in local food communities and jumpstarted many small food businesses you see around the state today. The Act has been expanded twice. Under the act, you can purchase a variety of local foods such as home grown chicken & poultry products, eggs, salsa, jelly, pickles, raw milk and dairy products, perishable baked goods, even home-canned homemade soups! We believe in a local food system and we are glad to see small food businesses thrive under the Wyoming Food Freedom Act.

We are considered a conventional grower. We try to avoid the use of any topical pesticides on our plants, however we do occasionally use treated seeds. These seed treatments and coatings allow us to plant in a range of soil conditions without the danger of pests and fungi destroying the seeds and young plants. For feeding, we use a combination of synthetic and natural fertilizers. For example, we use our own composted cow manure on all of our fields. For other plants, we use organic pelletized fertilizers and timed release fertilizers as well as regular feedings through the irrigation system. We also use oyster shell for calcium and Epsom salts for magnesium for our peppers, tomatoes, and eggplant. Our sweet corn gets two rounds of nitrogen, while also utilizing the nutrients provided by the past year's crop, for example a field just rotated out of alfalfa. While growing in the greenhouse, our plants get natural minerals and organic slow release fertilizers mixed in with our soil, as well as regular feedings with both natural and synthetic fertilizers to keep plants healthy and thriving while also boosting quality and flavor. Just like us, our plants need the proper nutrients to grow and thrive, and we like to feed them well. We are always 100% transparent in how we grow and what we use and are happy to answer any questions.

The farms and fruit orchards we source from have their own similar management programs, while some use all OMRI listed products and natural practices.

Sage Valley Farms reserves the right to cancel any order at any time for any reason. You will be notified by email if your order has been cancelled. You will receive a refund or credit within approximately 7-10 business days from the date of cancellation. Occasionally some items are unavailable or we have limited space for transporting orders and unfortunately have to sometimes cancel orders. This is rare and we apologize for any inconvenience should your order be cancelled.

If you would like to cancel an order, please send us a message. On most items all sales are final and unfortunately we cannot refund most orders, but we will look into your order closely and see what we can do should you request a cancellation.

Please see our full ValleyBox terms and conditions for ValleyBox cancellations.

We ask that you please pickup your ValleyBox at the times listed at your pickup location, or at the updated time if there are changes. If you do not give us notice ahead of pickup and do not pick up your ValleyBox by the time pickup ends, unfortunately you will not receive your box for that week and you will receive a $20 credit to use towards the next season's subscription. New for 2026 we have two vacation weeks. If you do not give us notice, we will apply one of the vacation weeks to the missed pickup before applying credits. We unfortunately don't have the time or help to store and deliver boxes outside of our regular pickup times.

It is strongly recommended that you sign up for text updates to be notified quickly of any pickup time or location changes as well as pickup reminders. Signing up for ValleyBox updates does not automatically opt in to all texts including promotions. You will only receive texts with pickup reminders and updates unless you opt in to all messages.

Purchased gift cards never expire. Purchased gift certificates expire on the date shown on the certificate. Promotional gift cards and certificates expire 6 months from issue date or October 31st of the current season, whichever is later, unless expressly stated otherwise. Additional terms for certain promotional gift cards and gift certificates may apply.

Gift cards are only valid for products purchased directly from us, and may not be used at any of the indoor markets or retail locations which carry our products. Gift cards and certificates have no cash value and must be surrendered at the time of redemption.

Gift cards, gift certificates, and store credits CANNOT be used to purchase new gift cards or gift certificates.

Our current season runs from November 1st, 2025 through October 31st, 2026.

We sure do! If you are unsatisfied with any product or receive produce that is damaged or not satisfactory, please return to the next market at that location for a replacement. Please take photos as we may request to see any damage or issues with the produce before replacing the item. You can also send us a message through our contact form and attach photos there.  Quality is most important to us and we want all of our customers fully satisfied with the delicious produce we offer.

Additional replacement terms may apply. For full cases, any unused fruit must be returned to be eligible for a full case replacement. Please keep the fruit refrigerated until the next pickup or market. We may deny a replacement if damage was caused through mishandling or improper storage by the customer.

Most fruit items are best stored refrigerated until use. For peaches, while picked tree ripe, they are best stored refrigerated between 34-36 degrees and ripened at room temperature for 24-48 hours before use. Ripe peaches should be firm but give slightly when pressed. Once peaches have been removed from the refrigerator they should not be refrigerated again. This can cause "chill damage" and make them mealy. This also applies to most stone fruits. Cherries, apricots, pluots, and plums should be refrigerated in your crisper drawer when fully ripe for the best shelf life and ripened to room temperature before use. This is optional as cold fruits are quite tasty! Apples are best kept refrigerated if they won't be consumed within 1-2 weeks after purchase. Vegetables like onions, potatoes, garlic, and winter squash should be stored in a cool, dry location that is well ventilated away from direct sunlight. Good airflow around the produce will help to prevent spoilage. Root cellars, heated garages, vented closets, cool basements, and porches or entryways between 50-60 degrees are best for long term storage of produce. For most fruit, it is best kept refrigerated for long term storage. Winter squash should not be stored in the refrigerator or at temps below 50° long term. This can cause chill damage and greatly affect quality as well as allow premature rot or mold. When stored properly, many produce items can be purchased in bulk and kept for several months without spoilage or quality degrading.
